The annual FSYF Essay Contest challenges Foreign Service youth to reflect on their experience by responding to an essay prompt. M iddle and high school students are invited to participate in the contest sponsored by McGrath Real Estate Services.
FSYF Academic Merit Scholarship. Since 2010, FSYF has been recognizing Foreign Service High school Seniors and Gap-Year dependents for their outstanding achievements through the FSYF Academic Merit Award. Growing up in the Foreign Service may be exciting but it isn't always easy. FS children face many challenges and disruptions to their lives.
Update from FSYF President. We at FSYF want you to know what we are doing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. First, FSYF’s annual contests and scholarship programs are proceeding on schedule with the exception of the KidVid Contest, which will be modified for kids to be able to still participate with social distancing.

Works with the Executive Director to oversee the Academic Merit Award and FSYF’s contests: Art, Essay, Community Service, and Welcome Home Video (FSI coordinates the FSYF-funded KidVid contest). This includes developing timelines, reviewing entry procedures, recruiting judges.
Every year, FSYF organizes several contests and awards programs for Foreign Service youth of all ages. Our contests offer Foreign Service youth an opportunity to share their talents and express themselves as artists, writers, videographers, and global citizens.
